Welcome to the World of Wild Mushrooms

September 11: The Forests and the Trees, with Regina Johnson

One key to a successful mushroom outing: Knowing your trees. Regina Johnson, a restoration ecologist with the state, will go over the ecology and identification of the trees you’re most likely to encounter in western Washington. And she’ll share the common associations between fungi and trees, so you know what to expect in any given grove.

Regina — a foray leader with the South Sound Mushroom Club — says her favorite mushrooms are the polypores, because they don’t need immediate attention when you collect them. You can drop them on the counter and forget about them.

You can join us in person at the Rotunda (building 11) at Olympic College, Bremerton, or via Zoom at https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89526537845?pwd=koZbLyrqWiOfgulpCA2m5cYPXRboHT.1
