Our voice. Our future. Our island.
Our Mission
Our mission is to protect the natural ecosystems, rural and small-town character, and the well-being for future generations on Bainbridge Island
What BCC Stands For:
-
We champion the health and safety of people, water, and habitats through education, advocacy, and action.
-
We protect Bainbridge Island’s natural ecosystems, rural and small-town character, and the well-being of future generations.
-
We partner with individuals and organizations on Bainbridge Island and in Kitsap County who share our mission.
-
We advocate for sustainable development that respects ecological limits and recognizes the connection between environmental health, land use, and community well-being.
-
We support neighborhoods facing land use proposals that threaten the Island’s character, ecology, and climate resilience.
-
We educate the community on key issues like:
-
Groundwater sustainability
-
Stream and watershed health
-
Winslow Subarea and Comprehensive Plan changes
-
Climate policy and land use regulations
-
-
We formed in 2023 in response to a proposal to up-zone parcels in a conservation area—mobilizing residents to protect their neighborhood.
